In February and March 2019, I designed two covers for Go Out! Magazine: one to celebrate the reopening of Geneva's opera house, and another one to commemorate the invention of the Internet and the launch of Go Out! Mag's new website. The magazine is printed monthly, with a circulation of 7,000 copies.
This cover was designed for the March, 2019 issue, to celebrate Go Out! Magazine's new website as well as the 30th anniversary of the World Wide Web, invented in Geneva in 1989. It plays with the limit between virtuality and reality, by integrating retro computing references as well as UI elements from different eras.
I designed this magazine cover to commemorate the reopening of the Geneva Opera House after three years of renovation. Composed with pictures I took inside the building, it celebrates the various eras people stroll through when visiting this spectacular building, from the 19th-century foyers to the newly excavated spaces located under the Boulevard du Théâtre. A blend of tradition and modernity, the renovated Geneva Opera House reopened to the public with its historical parts fully restored, as well as newly built contemporary spaces.
This cover captures the regained harmony that marks the beginning of a new era by transposing the grand foyer’s ceiling restored painting onto the concrete walls of the new basement, freshly excavated 140 years later.
